Information about getting to our new office

I’m excited to let you know that we’ve moved into our new location right next door to our former office.  Our new address is:

100 N Federal Hwy, Suite 202
Hallandale Beach, FL 33009

The new building is on the corner of US1 and NE 1st St (in between Flanigan’s and our old building).  It is a white 5-story with an “Accesso Partners” sign at the top of the south side. Directions via Google Maps.

There are 6 designated parking spots for Dermatology Boutique.

Enter from the parking lot door and you’ll find a directory.  We are on the second floor in Suite 202.  There is an elevator.

Our phone numbers and email addresses remain the same.  Our office hours are:

Monday 1 pm – 5 pm
Tue, Wed, Fri 9 am – 5 pm
Thur Closed
Sat 9 am – 3 pm

Not only have we upgraded our facility, but we have also added new technology and skincare to address your skin challenges.

  • I upgraded our radio frequency microneedling treatment to the Genius (it is more comfortable with quicker and better results than Infini.  And, less downtime!)
  • I’m now performing Mohs skin cancer surgery in the office several times a month.  Mohs is often done on the face to retain as much non-cancerous skin tissue as possible to reduce scarring.

Thank you for being a patient.  I appreciate your support of my practice.  It means so much to me.  I’m thrilled to continue to provide you with the best dermatologic services, now in a brand new venue.  I look forward to seeing you soon!

My first Jeuveau patients!

· Neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Xeomin) · Comments Off on My first Jeuveau patients!

Pictured are Stephanie Lee, MD (right), a long-time patient, who brought her friend Soo Han, MD.

Stephanie, who has tried Botox and Dysport previously, came in for a neurotoxin treatment.  I asked if she had heard about Jeuveau.  After I shared the story of the newest toxin to be introduced in nearly a decade, she wanted to be my first patient.

I told her what I learned at the physician advisory meeting* earlier this month.  Jeuveau is made in Korea exclusively for Evolus and it is distributed by Evolus in the USA.

Both ladies were excited to try something new.  They also mentioned that people in Korea are much more likely to start toxin treatments in their 20s, so this new approach to marketing to the young is the way to go.

More Beautiful Lips with Vollure and Volbella

· Fillers · Comments Off on More Beautiful Lips with Vollure and Volbella

My patient, who is in her 60s, wanted to get rid of the lines above her lips and also add volume to her upper lip.

To reduce the “lipstick lines” above her lip, I used Volbella.
In her lip, I used Vollure.

Vollure provides subtle, natural volume and is more spreadable – it can be smoothed out to exactly where you need it.

Vollure for Beautiful Lips

· Fillers · Comments Off on Vollure for Beautiful Lips

It makes my day to receive messages like this!

One syringe of Vollure is all it took to take these great lips to gorgeous.

This photo was taken 7 hours after the procedure.

When you are planning to have filler, stop taking blood thinners one week before your appointment to avoid bruising and bleeding. Things to avoid include: alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen (any NSAID), vitamin E or fish oil (any omega-3).

Treating keloids on top of ear

· Keloid (raised scar) · Comments Off on Treating keloids on top of ear

This young lady had keloids on the top of both ears, caused by piercing the upper cartilage of her ears, often called helix piercing.  Unfortunately, her body’s reaction to this piercing was to create excessive scar tissue.

As I often do, I worked on one ear first to see how her body would respond.  I surgically removed the larger of the two keloids, on her right ear (shown far left), and also gave her a Kenalog shot when she came in two weeks later to have her sutures removed.

In the “after” photo (on the right), the right ear is a little more than one month post op and she’s had one injection.

She’s so pleased with the result, she came in today to have the other keloid removed from her left ear.

Keloids result from the overproduction of collagen at the site of an injury.  Keloids cause disfigurement, but also can be painful and itchy.  Keloids have a genetic component.   The good news is that keloids do not turn into cancer.

More than one type of treatment may be necessary to get rid of a keloid.

I recommend taking steps to prevent keloids!

  • If you are considering a body piercing or a tattoo, try a test spot first, wear a pressure earring if you feel a thickening after ear piercing.
  • Tell the practitioner if you have had keloids in the past.
  • Keloids take time to appear, so wear sunscreen to prevent the skin from darkening after a wound.
  • As soon as the wound heals, use silicone sheets or gels which can prevent keloids from forming.

PRP for Facial Rejuvenation

· PRP · Comments Off on PRP for Facial Rejuvenation

PRP is an injectable made from your blood!

PRP speeds healing and has been used for years to help athletes recover from injuries and to repair tendons and joints.

A small amount of your blood is drawn and then with a centrifuge, the platelet rich plasma is extracted.

For the face, PRP can be used in addition to fillers to stimulate collagen production to improve the tone and texture of the skin.

Benefits of PRP

• Reduction of wrinkles and scars by thickening the dermis
• Healthier appearance – better tone and texture
• When used in conjunction with fillers, PRP prolongs and amplifies the filler effect, so that less filler can be used at each treatment

For optimal results and to decrease the chance of bruising, please avoid all blood thinning medications and herbal supplements for one week prior to your appointment.

Combination Therapy for Optimal Results — PRP Therapy stimulates your skin to grow new, younger tissue however; it does not prevent muscle movement or resurface the skin. Most patients see best results when combining their PRP facial treatments with other anti-aging procedures such as Botox, Hyaluronic Acid Fillers, etc.

Facial PRP Follow up Appointment — Most patients see improvement within two to four weeks with continued improvement for up to 12 weeks. If the desired level of correction has not been reached within 4-12 weeks then we recommend repeating the procedure at 4-12 week intervals until you achieve the result you desire.

PRP Facial Maintenance Treatments — The results of this treatment can last up to two years, but results vary and research documenting the longevity of results is ongoing. Maintenance treatments are recommended every six to 12 months.

I’m up on the latest techniques

· Continuing Education, Cosmetic Procedures · Comments Off on I’m up on the latest techniques

I just attended the Swift Beauty masterclass on Facial Injection Anatomy in New York City.

@drarthurswift pioneered a revolutionary approach to non-surgical facial enhancement.  He says, “Seeking beauty is not just about restoring youthfulness – it resides in pleasing facial proportions.”

I was excited to learn about Dr. Swift’s facial injection procedure that follows Leonardo Da Vinci’s mathematical principle of beauty and harmony through “divine” proportion. I was pleased that his masterclass also emphasized patient safety as well.

Looking forwarding to sharing all I learned with my patients!

Earlobe Repair

· Earlobe Repair · Comments Off on Earlobe Repair

My patient tore her earlobe with an earring.

In the “after” photo you see my sutures that will stay in for 2 weeks.

I re-pierced the ear close to the suture line the same day, so she’ll be ready to wear earrings again. My technique for this works very well.

Does your earlobe need a repair? Give me a call 855-465-6621.

Treating keloids on ear lobes

· Keloid (raised scar) · Comments Off on Treating keloids on ear lobes

I treated the keloids on both ears with surgical excision and injections of steroids and other medications every three to four weeks. On the left ear, a pressure earring was applied.  The pressure earring can be helpful by decreasing blood flow to help the keloid from recurring.  I did one ear and waited before doing the other to see how the patient’s body reacted, to ensure a better result.

In the photo, the right earlobe is one month post op and one injection.

The left earlobe is six months out and after six injections.  The pressure earring was used for one month.

Keloids result from the overproduction of collagen at the site of an injury.  In this case, it was after the patient pierced his ears.  Keloids cause disfigurement, but also can be painful and itchy.  Keloids have a genetic component.   The good news is that keloids do not turn into cancer.

New study highlights sunscreen issues

· Sunscreen · Comments Off on New study highlights sunscreen issues

A new sunscreen study by the Clean Label Project is very illuminating. Take a look.

One finding confirms what we know about the role of antioxidants in protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. I recommend layering Skin Better’s Alto Defense Serum under your sunscreen for this antioxidant protection. Alto is amazing and reduces the appearance of skin redness. Studies show less redness compared with sunscreen alone.

The two sunscreens I recommend are ISDIN or our own Dermatology Boutique brand.  Read more about these products.
