You’ve just had a skin-tightening procedure with the Genius. The Lutronic Genius delivers smoother, tighter skin via microneedling with radio frequency. It’s even been called the non-surgical facelift. Now, how to care for your skin to ensure optimal results?
- Do NOT apply anything to the treatment area for 24 hours, even sunscreen.
- After 24 hours, you may wash with a light cleanser and resume your normal skin regimen and makeup.
- You should avoid all harsh topical products or alcohol based toners for two weeks. Avoid vigorous activity, excess heat or sun exposure for at least one week.
- When outdoors after the first 24 hours, you must wear a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunblock with an SPF of 30 or higher. Always use an umbrella, hat or other available protection against sunlight.
- You’ll need to wait a minimum of 4 weeks before your next treatment. Four to six weeks is the typical interval between treatments. Most patients achieve the best results with two to four treatments.
EXPECTED SKIN REACTIONS
- You may experience very slight discomfort after treatment. Common expected skin reactions include redness and swelling. Some patients may have transient pinpoint bleeding. Pinpoint bleeding should stop within minutes after treatment, discomfort within a few hours and redness and swelling gradually diminish to normal in 1-3 days.
- Crusting may appear 1-2 days after treatment and sloughs off in 3-5 days.
- Other less common skin reactions include petechia (a small red or purple spot), which fades in a few days, or bruising, which can take up to a week to disappear.
- Other skin reactions include irritation, itching, and a burning sensation. These typically subside in a few hours to one day, but may be re-aggravated with heat or sweating. If these reactions continue, call us so we can evaluate for possible infection, change your skin care regimen and/or begin short-term use of mild topical steroid.
