Something to consider as you get older…the shingles vaccine. Two members of the American Academy of Dermatology are quoted in this Washington Post article: Better worry about shingles. It hurts…
Years ago it was thought that gravity was the major factor in age-related changes to the face. After the introduction of fillers, experts have been focusing on and studying anatomical changes that occur with time. We now know gravity is not the primary reason for the changes in the face that happen with age.
Loss of fat and collagen do play a role in facial aging, especially in those who are athletic and do a lot of aerobic activity. But, it’s actually bone loss — the foundation of the facial supporting structure — that results in jowls, lengthening of the upper lip and a down turned smile.
In this demonstration at a recent patient event (above), I am enhancing the mandible and chin with Radiesse®. A diminishing chin is projected forward, resulting in more youthful proportions and less jowls. I call this technique “lift the sling.”
If you know someone who still uses a tanning bed, share this Washington Post article with them. The CDC released a study that cites over 3,000 injuries a year are caused by tanning beds. Not to mention the increased risk of skin cancer.
Men can benefit from expert injections of Radiesse too! To “hide the evidence,” call 855-465-6621 now for your appointment to buy 2 syringes of Radiesse and get 1 area of Xeomin free!
Xeomin can temporarily reduce lines on your forehead between your brows. By combining Xeomin on the same day’s treatment with the Radiesse filler in areas where you need more volume in your face, you’ll look refreshed and relaxed.

I gave my sister a bottle of our new Dermatology Boutique cleanser fortified with green & white tea. Here’s what she had to say:
“It’s very gentle, but it easily removes make up. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturized. I love it!”
The antioxidant formula contains a blend of Vitamins A, C, E, Green and White Tea in a combination with Coenzyme Q10. Stop by our office to pick up a bottle!
One of my patients purchased this Obagi eye cream at our office and I asked her what she thought: “It’s light and silky. I also like that I can use it at night and not wake up with puffy eyes. My skin instantly drinks it in and fine lines become less noticeable. What I really like is that I can put on foundation immediately without ‘pilling.’”
If you’re not familiar with the pilling she’s referring to, it can happen when you apply one product over another on your face and during application the products roll up into little balls. The best way to avoid this is to let each layer dry, but on rare occasions, with certain products, even that doesn’t work. Here are some tips from Allure Magazine on how to avoid pilling.
She continues: “I’ve been able to apply foundation on top of the ELASTIderm Complete Complex Eye Cream with no pilling. With my sensitive skin I’ve had no reaction or problems using this eye cream.” The eye cream is formulated with clinically proven ingredients such as several antioxidants, and malonic acid which can improve skin texture and elasticity.

Does a doctor have to be board certified to practice medicine? No. But as a patient you want someone who stays up-to-date with the latest developments, medicines and treatments in her specialty. For any physician, board certification means your doctor has gone above and beyond the many years of education by passing the exams given by her specialty’s governing body. In the case of dermatology, board certification is granted the American Board of Dermatology after the requirements, including additional training, are met. The board exam demonstrates a physician’s knowledge of advances in medicine in her specialty. See this Forbes article on patronizing only board certified dermatologists.
I recently attended some refresher training on Sculptra from one of the most expert injectors of the product, a cosmetic dermatologist. I like to attend continuing education to learn from others and refine my techniques.
I’m very enthusiastic about the results patients achieve with just two or three sessions of Sculptra. The injections stimulate collagen over the bone. This new collagen is key in regenerating fullness in areas where loss of volume and/or wrinkles have taken over. It gives very natural and long-lasting results – renewing the angles of youth. Take a look at these before and after photos.
